On 14 October 2026, the third Policy Decision Makers Forum of JA PreventNCD took place in Brussels. Medical University of Silesia in Katowice was represented by Associate Professor Katarzyna Bruka\u0142o, PhD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The JA PreventNCD project is being implemented between 2024 and 2027 and aims to support the development of strategies and policies focused on reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases, including cancer. The activities carried out within the project address both individual and societal risk factors affecting the health of people across Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Policy Decision Makers Forum serves as an advisory platform for the project. Its role is to foster dialogue between public health experts and representatives of institutions involved in shaping health policies at the European, national, and local levels. During the meeting, Forum members discussed the progress of the project and the proposals developed by its partners. They also exchanged views and provided feedback on the feasibility of the proposed measures and the opportunities for their implementation across different levels of governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year's meeting focused on exploring opportunities to further strengthen health policies currently under consideration by the European Commission. The discussions were based on priorities jointly identified by representatives of the 25 countries participating in the JA PreventNCD project. An important part of the meeting was the assessment of the proposed measures in terms of their practical feasibility and potential for implementation in different national and local contexts. Representatives of the European Commission and other invited experts also took part in the discussions, contributing valuable knowledge and experience to the evaluation of the proposed actions and their further development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forum provided an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among representatives of the scientific community, public health professionals, and individuals involved in the development and implementation of health policies. This collaboration supports the development of solutions that address current challenges related to the prevention of non-communicable diseases and the reduction of risk factors. The involvement of experts from different countries also enabled the proposed measures to be viewed from the perspective of diverse experiences and healthcare system contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are pleased that the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice had the opportunity to participate in this important event and contribute to the international discussion on the future directions of health policy development!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
