On June 2, 2025, the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice hosted an official visit from Knut Jønsrud, the Project Manager of JA PreventNCD from the Norwegian Directorate of Health (Helsedirektoratet).
The purpose of the visit was to personally review the progress of preparations for the upcoming international Annual Meeting of JA PreventNCD, which will begin on June 16th at the International Congress Centre in Katowice. During his visit, Knut Jønsrud toured the event venue, reviewed the facilities, and took part in discussions concerning organizational and logistical issues, as well as the reception of delegations from 25 European countries.
Following this, a meeting with the JA PreventNCD project team was held at the Rectorate of the Medical University of Silesia. The participants included:
- • Katarzyna Brukało, PhD – National Project Manager of JA PreventNCD in Poland,
- • Ilona Hajok, PhD – Deputy Director of the Centre for Technology Transfer,
- • Michał Henke – Head of the Promotion Department,
- • and administrative staff of the University involved in the project implementation.
The next item on the agenda was a meeting with the University Authorities, attended by:
- • Oskar Kowalski, MD, PhD – Vice-Rector for Postgraduate Education and Promotion,
- • Monika Wojtasik – Bursar of the Medical University of Silesia,
- • Anna Tilszer – Director of the Technology Transfer Centre.
During the meeting, strategic directions for the project’s development were discussed, along with the potential for engaging local and international partners, and initiatives promoting public health in the context of preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across Europe.
We were pleased to host Knut Jønsrud in Katowice – his visit was a valuable opportunity for productive discussions and strengthening collaboration. The meeting took place in a very positive atmosphere and marked an important step forward in preparing for the upcoming event.
