JA PreventNCD Coordination Meeting with WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen

On 4 March, a coordination meeting with the Division of Prevention and Health Promotion of the WHO Regional Office for Europe took place in Copenhagen, bringing together partners of the JA PreventNCD project. The main focus of the discussion was how to ensure that progress in the prevention of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) continues even after European Joint Action projects come to an end.

During the meeting, work package leaders presented updates on joint activities carried out within the project – ranging from policy monitoring and regulation to initiatives supporting healthier living environments, addressing social inequalities, and identifying people at risk.

WHO experts actively participated in the discussions, reflecting together with project partners on how the outcomes and experiences developed within the Joint Action can continue to support European countries and contribute to the development of health policies in the future.

Katarzyna Brukało, PhD, Associate Professor at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, shared experiences related to, among other topics, the concept of Healthy Cities and initiatives aimed at creating healthier living environments.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Dr Gundo Weiler, Director of the Division of Prevention and Health Promotion at the WHO Regional Office for Europe. He presented the division’s priorities and highlighted opportunities to further strengthen collaboration between WHO and the JA PreventNCD project.

We are pleased to collaborate and exchange knowledge with partners from across Europe. Joint efforts, dialogue, and strong partnerships are key to effective prevention of noncommunicable diseases and to developing sustainable solutions that support public health.
