W dniach 16-18 czerwca 2025 roku w Międzynarodowym Centrum Kongresowym w Katowicach z inicjatywy prof. dr hab. n. med. Tomasza Szczepańskiego – Rektora Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach oraz dr hab. n. o zdr. Katarzyny Brukało, Koordynatorki JA PreventNCD w Polsce odbyło się Doroczne Spotkanie JA PreventNCD, które połączyło dwa ważne wydarzenia:
- The meeting of the entire Joint Action PreventNCD Consortium, i.e., representatives from all EU Member States, held on June 16–17, 2025, serving as the culminating event of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union;
- The second meeting of the EU Consortium on Cancer and Other Non-Communicable Disease Prevention (EU-CNCD), held on June 17–18, 2025, which served as a platform for applying scientific knowledge into public health practice.
The event was organized by the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the National Institute of Public Health of Slovenia.
About 400 participants took part in the event, both in person and online. The meeting brought together key stakeholders involved in non-communicable disease prevention, including decision-makers, experts, and representatives from the academic community.
The purpose of the meeting was:
- Strengthening cooperation and joint actions for public health;
- Sharing progress made so far in the project implementation;
- Discussing key health challenges;
- Promoting coherence of actions and shared understanding of JA PreventNCD goals;
- Creating space for open discussion and integration of project partners.
Since the project implementation, a tremendous amount of work has been done, and the Katowice meeting was a unique opportunity to exchange experiences, build relationships, and engage in constructive discussions among partners from over 100 institutions involved in JA PreventNCD.
The honorary guests of the event included:

- Prof. Knut-Inge Klepp – Scientific Coordinator of JA PreventNCD, Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH);
- Urszula Demkow – Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Health;
- Beata Małecka-Libera – Undersecretary of State, Senator of the 10th term of the Polish Parliament;
- Marek Augustyn – Vice President of the National Health Fund;
- Dr. Marcin Krupa – Mayor of Katowice;
- Waldemar Bojarun – Deputy Mayor of Katowice.
and many other distinguished guests and experts from Poland and abroad.
